Description

The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following actions:

 

Recruitment and Outreach:

  • Coordinates all outreach and recruitment efforts for Preschool programs to ensure full enrollment at all times. This includes running some of the outreach events and having flexibility to do so occasionally during evening and weekend events.
  • Tracks and reviews all outreach and recruitment events and analyzes outcomes of each event as part of the annual coordinated enrollment plan.
  • Provides community education and information sessions about childcare and early childhood.
  • Works will community partners that can contribute to resources to assist families as needed.
  • Manages the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) program for Greene County Public Schools, inclusive of GCPS and community-based classes, and responsible for all state enrollment and monitoring reports.
  • Oversees the recruitment, eligibility screening, registration, and placement process for the VPI program.

Screening, Eligibility and Enrollment:

  • Provides training to Preschool partners on completing program applications and engaging the community in the outreach and recruitment process.
  • Collaborates with partners to process applications, verify and track eligibility of families based on applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Talks with parents and guardians of preschool and early childhood age children about the program opportunities available, screening for initial eligibility for these programs and helping families complete the steps to apply.
  • Utilizes data systems for data entry of child and family applications, waitlists, program transfers, withdrawals, income status of families and other data as it relates to eligibility and enrollment.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Reviews Exception-to-Policy requests, discussing problem solving strategies with parents, guardians, or childcare providers when issues arise, making recommendations to supervisor and preparing correspondence regarding decisions.
  • Maintaining enrollment database, including the provision of data analysis and development of reports to ensure that programs are meeting enrollment targets.
  • Develops the early childhood strategic plan with specific performance measures aligned to the GCPS strategic plan Impact 2027
  • Collaborates with school principals to recruit, hire, and retain early childhood teaching staff.
  • Designs and works collaboratively with staff to provide professional growth opportunities for teachers and administrators and monitors implementation of effective instructional strategies and appropriate learning environments.
  • Collects, analyzes, and assesses data regarding pre-K and Kindergarten readiness.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Candidates must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching certificate with endorsement in applicable subject area.

 

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:
Duties performed typically in school settings to include: classroom; gym, cafeteria; auditorium; and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting, up to 40 pounds, and other limited physical activities are required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular Instruction to special needs children may be necessary. Occasional lifting of equipment such as audio-visuals weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members and parents is required. Occasional contact with medical professionals may be required. Frequent contact with parents by phone and in person is necessary.

 

EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
